Humility allows a player to acknowledge their mistakes without having them pointed out by others and to take responsibility to improve the next time around. Without humility, teams spend their time blaming each other for a loss instead of recognizing their own mistakes. That sort of attitude can breed anger and resentment on a team, preventing players from fixing their mistakes and eventually causing squads with a lot of potential to break up in search of “better” teammates.
Having a realistic view of one’s performances is a part of true humility. Humility doesn’t mean a person is always down on himself or herself. It means a person has the maturity to objectively evaluate his or her performance, taking full responsibility for mistakes but also recognizing success without gloating
