Sucks When Good Workers Get Fired

Well, my co-worker Linda got fired. She asked my boss Kim for a vacation a week ago or so, and Kim said yes, and acted like it would be okay. Now Linda is getting fired for taking a vacation. I hate it when sh*t like this happens. She was the fastest worker on the hardest board, and apparently Kim thinks it's a good idea to have to train someone else. The company is gonna lose more money having to train someone than to let Linda go on vacation.

 Well, I guess there's no use grieving about it. But Kim at least should have said "you can't do that or something" her acting like she'd be okay with it is just a lie of omission, and makes her look like she's a horrible person. I guess she doesn't care though.

I hope Linda is fine, her temp agency should find her another job. Sucks that she's gonna have to "earn" the right to overtime again, because it will be different things to get trained in.

She left her phone number on my desk before she left, which came as a surprise to me.

Well, life goes on. ^_^

Example.  My grandfather passed away recently.  The same week of my sisters wedding.

Her wedding was on a friday. Wedding rehersal on thursday.  My grandfathers wake was on tues, and funeral on wed.  ALSO Memorial day was Monday.

Note: in order to get paied for holiday pay you need to work the day before and after memorial day to get paied for it.

I took off of work tues and wed for funeral and wake.  Told them my grandpa passed away, they said it was ok and if i brought in the obituary that I could get paied for those two days.  Then I took two vacation days off thurs and friday for the wedding.

The next week I bring in the obituary..they said ok.  When pay day comes around they tell me that I could not get paied for the days i took off for my grandfathers passing..therefor i miss two days of pay AND did NOT get paied for memorial day.

I got penilized because i pretty much babeed them over...that is how life works.  Deal with it, you know how it is.

I am not saying it is right she got fired.  If they told her it is ok to take the vacation then she should not be getting fired.


But in regards to a bussiness standpoint, paying someone for lets say 2-3 days of work when they are not at work..and production will then be lacking...I can understand the companies point of view.
Time=money..those few days she is not there they are losing production.

That really f*cking sucks

My sister's company is kinda being like that...stingy with letting people have off. She got married a month ago and since she needed to take off for her honeymoon, her boss asked if she could take some work with her...ON HER HONEYMOON!?

And she's not allowed to have the same days off as one of her co-workers because they're the only 2 doing whatever job. And her co-worker is "Jewish" and takes off for every single Jewish holiday (even ones I've never heard of), plus she took off for Christmas Eve (???) so now my sister has to work Christmas Eve
