The quotation marks are to illustrate my disdain for the term "Creation Science" and to point out that it can, in no way, shape or form be called "science". To those who argue that is a science, you are what's called ignorant, as here is what the scientific method involves:
- Making an Observation: Such as, "Hey look, the bacteria surrounding that fungal species are all dying", or in this case "Hey look, we exist!"
- Forming a Hypothesis: "The fungus may produce a substance which is fatal to bacteria", or "We exist because God put us here."
- Using said Hypothesis to predict an occurrence: "If I isolate this substance from the fungus it should kill the bacteria", or in the case of Christianity "I will recover from this cold I've had for a week by praying"
- Proving the prediction: "Wow! I've just discovered Penicilin!" or "Wow, I'm over my cold! This proves that God exists, and that he is responsible for creating us all! I'm such a scientist!" Do I even have to point out the flawed logic here?
There is no proof that God exists and even less to suggest that we were created by such a power. What's funny is that I have a friend who is a Christian (and yes he hates me) and in order to try and 'prove' that everything in the Bible is true, he claimed that someone had found Noah's Ark, which for some unknown reason, nobody except him knew about, even though it was on the news(?).
I'm not sure if that's quite as funny as the people who claim that we were created by a 'God' and then try to escape from the uncomfortable position of providing any evidence that their claims are true by saying something like "God can't be 'proven', you just have to have faith" or some other stinking pile of bullshit. Then, when a reasonable person cites Evolution or the Big Bang theory, they have the audacity to try and debunk it on the basis that there isn't sufficient evidence to support either theory, even though there is. There is a
lot more evidence in favour of both than there is of the existence of God (ie none).
Using the Big Bang theory, and the scientific method, it was predicted that radiation would be left over from the Big Bang itself, which was proven in 1964 by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, who later won the Nobel Prize for this discovery. As for Evolution, well, I think the fossil evidence more or less speaks for itself.
