Okay so me and my dad were gonna make Prickly Pear Jelly today and I was helpin him with it, and I had noticed all the fruit flies in the kitchen (they must've come off the pears from outside). Soooo hes got all the juice and pulp in a strainer and I look in to watch; and well, I notice movement and assume its just the straining power sucking it down...but upon closer inspection I screamed. I went down the hall and was like;
"DAD! There are worms in the jelly!" and he's like "what?" and I'm like "there's fruit-fly larvae in the jelly >O"
We go to look and he's like "I don't see anything" and by now I was thoroughly grossed out (I have major issues with bugs in my food from growing up in Antioch) After a few minutes of gazing at them hes like "Well, thats what makes it organic :D"
me: "O___________________O"
"what? you think you've never eaten a worm before?" *continues on with the process*
me: *shudder*
